The Museum of Art Women’s Association, or WAMA, created with the intention of using the current Americans to Cincinnati, Ohio area, founded the Cincinnati Art Museum in 1877 . The museum has since grown to what it is today – the largest art museum in the state of Ohio. WAMA account that, historically, art has always been specifically created for the privileged members of society, and art museums are usually funded by wealthy class of higher education. The average person in the lower middle class and not have the same access or knowledge of the fine arts. The group is committed to the arts and arts education for the masses. To make it more accessible to the population, the Cincinnati Art Museum opened its doors always open on Saturdays. In May 2003, funding for Lois and Richard Rosenthal Foundation has removed the entry fee to the museum of all time. The goal, therefore, WAMA, has been completed.
The Cincinnati Art Museum is located in a building built in the Romanesque style, and houses over 60,000 objects of art and artifacts. Periods represented in the museum collection covers the last 6000 years. Museum collections are divided into the following areas: American decorative arts, clothing and textiles, the art of Africa, the art of the Americas, prints, drawings and watercolors, paintings and sculptures of America, the European painting and classical sculpture and the Near East, the Far – East and Photography.

With many pieces of art from the Middle Ages and Renaissance painting and sculpture that a visitor a great overview of the different historical periods in the development of painting and sculpture in Europe. Italian Renaissance is represented by artists like Mantegna, English landscapes by John Constable, portraits of the Dutch painter Frans Hal, the work of the Impressionist period, German Expressionism, and an early Picasso, to name a few – uns.
Painting and sculpture in America does not cover a large number of years, but has many works by American artists, especially realistic. Among the Americans are realistic, Winslow Homer, Edward Hopper, Andrew Wyeth, Grant Wood, Thomas Eakins, John Singer Sargent and Mary Cassatt (an impressionist painter, born in America). Some of contemporary American art, is also in the Cincinnati Art Museum from the collection.
The classic art of the Middle East includes, among other things, an alabaster figure of around 2600 BC, a Greek crater Century 4th, 3rd and a portrait of the marble head of the century, with some parts of Egypt.
